Danny Abdia speaks ahead of Washington's return from vacation (Washington official website)

LeBron James and the Lakers are going through a tough time.

The 109: 104 loss tonight (Tuesday through Wednesday) to Dallas at Staples Center brought back the sights the team fans have seen too much this season: disappointing stars, a team falling apart in money time, and jarring boos that well illustrate the crisis.

The Lakers have lost 17 of their last 21 games, recorded just three wins in 13 games since mid-January, and have yet to win since returning from an All-Star backlog.

Tonight it looked a little better at times, but again ended in a loss that exacerbates the team's situation in the West position struggles.

The Lakers are currently ranked only ninth in the conference, four and a half games away from the Clippers in eighth place.

At least outwardly, LeBron refuses to give up.

"For not burying me deep enough in the ground, I still have a chance," he said at the conclusion about his chances of qualifying for the Lakers playoffs.

"From there comes my confidence. The more games we win, the more chance we have, and it starts from now. I hate to lose. And yes, it feels shit now. But tomorrow will be a new day, and we need to start accumulating wins."

But there are those in the Lakers who believe Belbron speaks in slogans, and that his conduct on the floor proves that he is not as optimistic and committed as he tries to convey.

For example, in one of the attacks tonight he appears to be positioned in color and tries to get a ball with his back to the basket, with his teammates ignoring him, and he responds with despair and dismissal gestures, lazily dropping to the defense that led to a light Dallas dunk.

Lakers fans are not afraid to express their opinion, and whistled contempt at him and at the other players once again.

LeBron backed them up at the end, claiming "I live or die with the Lakers' ardent fans. If they whistle at me, I go with them. If they encourage me, I go with them."

But not only is the tension with the crowd growing, but also with club president Ginny Bass.

According to Bill Simmons, Bass "decided to put LeBron in place" after a series of remarks at All-Star Week, in which he hinted that he was unhappy with the Lakers management.

James did so indirectly, flattering Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presty and making it clear he intends to play with his son Bruni "on any team he doesn't get in the NBA," amid the Lakers' failure to trade Russell Westbrook.

According to Simmons, Bass heard the statements from LeBron and his agent Rich Paul, "and she'm tired of it."

"She's a tough woman. One who's been in the league since the '80s, and at this point I think she stood on her hind legs and said, 'Stop it. You don't decide on everything, just stop. You're here, and you have a contract for next season.' "To have a meeting or a conference call between them, and I understand Ginny was breezed by it. She did not like the innocence of LeBron and his men, the pretense. In her opinion they are agents of chaos, and very strange that they deny it."

Among other things, LeBron hinted at All-Star Week about his desire to return to Cleveland.

But according to Mark Stein, the will is not mutual.

"To the best of my knowledge, the Cubs are not interested in a third 'dance' with LeBron," he said yesterday.

"The owners, the management, this whole organization has heard a million times over the years, that they are worth nothing without LeBron. Now they are starting to prove that it's not true, and they do not want to interrupt it."

So what's LeBron's next plot?

According to Bill Simmons, James is drafting a deal with Fenway in which he is a partner (which also owns a percentage of Liverpool), in which it will become the owner of a new NBA team in Las Vegas.

Adam Silver wants to form new NBA teams in Vegas and Seattle, and Fenway is estimated to be the favorite to win ownership of the team in Sin City.

"I have no doubt that LeBron has a part in this, and will have a part in it in the future," Simmons says.
