At FC Bayern there are two surprising returnees in the starting blocks.
Captains Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller are back in training.
Munich – February at FC Bayern* shows how fast things can go in football: After the 2: 4 debacle in Bochum and the weak 1: 1 in the Champions League first leg at RB Salzburg, the house blessing hung on Säbener Straße crooked.
Above all, the holey defense was criticized.
Two games later with the 4-1 win against Fürth and the 1-0 win in Frankfurt - the first game without conceding a goal since mid-January - the world looks different again.
FC Bayern is going into the crucial phase of the season full of self-confidence.
The top game against Bayer Leverkusen is on the program on Saturday, and three days later Salzburg come to the Allianz Arena for the second leg.
The two captains, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller, report back “fit” just in time and should soon be leading their team again on the pitch.
FC Bayern: Manuel Neuer before lightning comeback – Thomas Müller returns
Thomas Müller is back on the training ground after his second corona infection and has completed his first ball exercises.
After his operation on his right knee on Monday, national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic even provided "goalkeeper-specific exercises" again, as FC Bayern announced.
"I'm very confident that we can get Manu back as soon as possible," coach Julian Nagelsmann said at the end of last week.
The 35-year-old Neuer could return to the Bayern goal sooner than originally expected.
Even a game in the home game against Leverkusen on Saturday doesn't seem out of the question.

Müller will then definitely be part of the squad.

However, he had no particular symptoms of illness, but missed the away win in Frankfurt.
The 32-year-old has since been tested and played an individual session with the ball on Monday.

FC Bayern: hope for Goretzka - public training on Shrove Tuesday
While the other Bayern stars had a day off, Leon Goretzka and Bouna Sarr trained individually alongside Neuer and Müller.
National player Goretzka is on the up after long-term problems with the patella tendons.
The midfielder has been sidelined since his last appearance against Borussia Dortmund in early December.
"He's moving faster again.
I'm happy for him, there are steps in the right direction," Nagelsmann said recently.
However, the Bayern coach dared "no forecast" at the time of a comeback.
FC Bayern has a special treat in store for its fans on Shrove Tuesday.
From 11 a.m., the people of Munich invite you to a public training session.
Due to the pandemic, the club was able to train in front of an audience for the last time in mid-October.
