The rescue is on its way.
"Maccabi World Movement" led by Maccabi Europe, which is headquartered in the Netherlands and led by David Bessemer, with President of Maccabi Europe Dagmar Gavernikova from Slovakia, set up a special headquarters with the beginning of Russia's invasion to rescue members of the movement from Ukraine.
To date, about 500 members of the movement have been directly and indirectly rescued from Ukraine - to Slovakia, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Germany, while on the eve of the fighting, Maccabi Ukraine had 3,000 members in 20 branches in 7 major cities.
The movement operates a service of dozens of buses and vehicles that are available to members of the movement who wish to leave Ukraine for neighboring countries.
Work is currently underway to expel 120 members of the Ukrainian delegation to Maccabiah from Ukraine so that they can participate in the 21st Maccabiah that will take place in July in Israel.
Even before the games, hundreds of members of the movement will arrive in Israel and be housed in the village of Maccabiah, so that they will have enough time to prepare for the summer competitions.
Amir Peled, Chairman of Maccabi World Movement, notes: "Maccabi Europe provides all those who left Ukraine with food, clothing, housing, absorption, and enrollment of children in schools, and ongoing support for all daily needs.
In addition, members of Maccabi Ukraine who are interested in immigrating to Israel will receive all the assistance for their absorption into Israel. "

Meanwhile, from tomorrow until March 8, the "Maccabi World Movement" Congress and meetings of the International Maccabiah Committee will be held in the village of Maccabiah in Ramat Gan.
The congress will be attended by about 250 movement leaders from 40 countries around the world and from Israel.
At the opening of the congress, the participants will be greeted by Jack Turpins, President of the Movement, Amir Peled, Chairman of the Movement, Arik Zeevi, Chairman of the Maccabiah 2022, Yael Arad, Chairman of the Olympic Committee, Yaakov Hagoel, Chairman of the Zionist Organization and Acting Chairman of the Jewish Agency.
As part of the Maccabi World Movement Congress, a conference of the movement's young leadership will also be held, with the participation of about 60 leaders from Europe, South America, Australia, North America, South Africa, and Israel.
During the congress, movement issues such as the international Maccabi Games that will take place in 2023 in Europe and South America, projects and programs for Israel, the topic of information and especially the assessments for Maccabiah that will take place in July in Israel will be discussed.
About 10,000 athletes were registered for Maccabiah, 15% more than the previous Maccabiah, and thousands more guests who will come to Israel especially for Maccabiah.
The Maccabiah will mark 100 years of Maccabi World Movement and 90 years of Maccabiah.
