FC Bayern and Oliver Kahn congratulate a football legend on his birthday.
Both post old photos of the star keeper on Instagram.
Munich – At the age of six, Oliver Kahn* started his legendary football career in a Sepp Maier goalkeeper jersey.
He got the uniform from his grandfather for his birthday.
His idol at the time won the title "Germany's Footballer of the Year" this year - two more were to follow, as well as numerous other awards.
To this day, Sepp Maier is one of the great figureheads of FC Bayern Munich, for whom he played for 17 years.
The football legend holds the record with 661 competitive games.
For comparison: Oliver Kahn was “only” in goal 627 times for the club.

On Monday (February 28th) Sepp Maier celebrated his 78th birthday.
Not only FC Bayern Munich * congratulates the "Cat from Anzing" on the day of honor, Oliver Kahn also sends his best wishes to his role model.
In an Instagram post, the "Titan" shows an ancient photo of him and Sepp Maier.

Both wrote football history together.
After his career between the posts, Sepp Maier coached Oliver Kahn, who moved to Bayern Munich in 1994.
He drove the keeper to top form in goalkeeper training.
"Oliver Kahn is by far the best, with his irrepressible will to be number 1," the 78-year-old once said.
On the occasion of the goalkeeper legend's birthday, Kahn thanks everyone for their support over the past few years.
On Instagram he writes: “You supported me throughout my whole career and were always a role model to me both on and off the pitch.
Happy birthday and ois Guade, Sepp Maier!” the former keeper an old picture from the 1998 World Cup in France.
Wearing a suit, he sits on the coach's bench and looks almost in awe at his goalkeeping coach at the time - Maier held this position at both FCB and DFB.
Maier directs his gaze to the field.

Numerous fans of Oliver Kahn also congratulate the Bayern legend on his birthday.

FC Bayern Munich also honors its goalkeeper star.
The traditional club also posts two photos of Sepp Maier on Instagram – one from the past and one that shows the 78-year-old today.

Sepp Maier had to end his career abruptly in 1979 when he was seriously injured in a car accident.
During aquaplaning, the goalkeeper went off the road and crashed into an oncoming car.
At first, the severity of his injuries was not recognized, only later did it turn out that, among other things, his lungs had been ruptured and his liver had been displaced.
