The head of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev described the International Paralympic Committee's decision to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete in the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing as an "appropriate decision".
"The decision taken by the committee came despite the international hysteria about Russian athletes who will have a chance to prove themselves despite their inability to compete under their country's flag," Svishchev told TASS.
The committee had announced earlier that it had allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate as independent athletes in the Paralympic Games.
Winter 2022 in Beijing, which will take place from the 4th to the 13th of this month.
