Biathlon: disqualified, the French women's relay loses the little crystal globe

2022-03-03T16:13:32.139Z

Sixth in Finland, the French finally lost the little Globe of the specialty for a question of a badly used charger.

Nightmare in the Finnish snow.

While they had done the most by finishing in 6th place in the relay in Kontiolahti, won by Norway, the Blues were finally taken out of the event following the improper handling of a charger by Justine Braisaz -Bouchet.

Third in the team classification, they let slip the small Globe of the specialty, won by Sweden.

The Olympic mass-start champion, who was doing the 3rd stint of this 4X6 km, engaged one of her loaders after having lost one of her pickaxe balls on her prone shot (falling into the pit), which is prohibited by the rules of the International Biathlon Federation.

Coming out in 10th place, France finally finished in 6th place thanks to the good passage of Julia Simon.

Except that in the meantime a small asterisk has appeared next to his name, synonymous with disqualification...

"On the standing shot, we are entitled to three pickaxe balls," says Justine Braisaz-Bouchet at the microphone of the L'Equipe channel.

I lost one.

I couldn't get it back.

So I hired a loader, I'm not allowed to do that, I didn't know that.

I'm really sorry...” After their disappointing race at the Beijing Games (6th place), it's another setback for the Habs, especially since the Russians and Belarusians were absent.

AnaĂŻs Bescond had however launched the French women well by passing the baton in third place, 17 seconds from Norway and twelve from the Swedes.

Already in difficulty in Beijing, AnaĂŻs Chevalier-Bouchet was then penalized with two rounds of penalty after her lying shot, finishing her round in 8th place, just under a minute from the podium.
