Update vom 2. März, 18.20 Uhr: Rekord-Pokalsieger FC Bayern ist raus, Vorjahressieger BVB ist raus. Klar, dass nun Vorjahresfinalist RB Leipzig die Favoritenrolle im DFB-Pokal inne hat. Die Roten Bullen wollen endlich den ersten Titel in ihrer noch jungen Vereinsgeschichte. Das Viertelfinale gegen Hannover 96 dürfte aber keine Selbstläufer sein. März, 18.15 Uhr: Der Mutterverein von Hannover 96 droht Altkanzler Gerhard Schröder wegen seiner Russland-Beziehungen mit dem Rauswurf. „Wir werden jetzt prüfen, inwiefern Herr Schröder gegebenenfalls gegen die Interessen des Vereins verstoßen hat“, sagte eine Leitende Mitarbeiterin des Hannoverschen Sportvereins von 1896. Dem Altkanzler sei am Mittwoch ein Schreiben zugestellt worden, in dem er um eine Stellungnahme gebeten wurde. Zuerst hatte die Bild darüber berichtet.

96-Chef Martin Kind hatte zuvor behauptet, dass Schröder bei 96 kein Mitglied sei und als gewöhnlicher Kunde seine Karten kaufe. „Wir sind ein Rechtsstaat mit einer Demokratie und haben die Rechtsnormen natürlich zu beachten. Herr Schröder darf weiter Spiele besuchen, wir verbieten ihm nicht den Zutritt.“ Hintergrund der widersprüchlichen Aussagen ist vermutlich die besondere Aufteilung bei Hannover 96 in einen Mutterverein, der gemeinnützig auftritt und die ausgegliederte Kapitalgesellschaft, der Martin Kind als Geschäftsführer vorsteht und deren Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender Schröder von Dezember 2016 bis Juni 2019 war.

DFB-Pokal: Viertelfinale im Live-Ticker: Altkanzler Gerhard Schröder droht bei Hannover der Rauswurf

Nach den Diskussionen um Schröder und dessen enges Verhältnis zu Russland will Fußball-Zweitligist Hannover 96 seinem bekannten Fan nicht den Zutritt zu Spielen verbieten. „Er hat mit einigen Freunden eine Loge, diese darf er natürlich weiter nutzen, weil er seine Plätze innerhalb dieses Teams bezahlt. Gerhard Schröder ist für uns gerade kein Thema“, sagte 96-Chef Kind bei Sport1.

Hannover-Fan Schröder steht wegen seiner engen Verbindung zum russischen Präsidenten Wladimir Putin in der Kritik, auch weil er nicht auf seinen Posten als Aufsichtsratschef beim staatlichen russischen Energiekonzern Rosneft verzichten möchte. Borussia Dortmund hat Schröder am Mittwoch mit sofortiger Wirkung die Ehrenmitgliedschaft entzogen.

Hannover agiert in der Defensive mit einer Fünferkette. Für Entlastung in der Offensive sollen Kerk, Beier und Maina sorgen. Insgesamt sind es drei Änderungen nach dem 2:0 gegen Kiel letzten Freitag. Die Niedersachsen hatten also zwei Tage mehr Pause als die Sachsen.

DFB-Pokal: Viertelfinale im Live-Ticker: Leipzig-Ärger wegen Ukraine-Krieg

Zur ersten Anstoßzeit um 18.30 Uhr tummeln sich gleich drei Teams aus der 2. Bundesliga. Der Hamburger SV empfängt in der Runde der letzten Acht den Karlsruher SC und Hannover 96 trifft auf Bundesligaklub und Vorjahresfinalist RB Leipzig. Der HSV kämpft im Unterhaus für die Rückkehr in die Bundesliga, musste am vergangenen Wochenende mit der 2:3-Heimniederlage gegen Werder Bremen aber einen empfindlichen Dämpfer einstecken. Die Rothosen haben als Tabellenvierter drei Punkte Rückstand auf die Aufstiegsplätze.

RB Leipzig muss als Top-Favorit in Hannover ran. Die Sachsen sind vom Ukraine-Konflikt direkt betroffen. Der Gegner in der Europa League Spartak Moskau wurde vom Wettbewerb ausgeschlossen, somit steht Leipzig kampflos im Viertelfinale. Der Klub war in die Kritik geraten, nachdem sich RB zuvor nicht öffentlich für einen Boykott der Partien gegen Moskau ausgesprochen hatte.
