It just doesn't work now: EC Peiting lost the Oberliga derby on Friday evening against SC Riessersee.

The start was absolutely promising.

Peiting - Now things are getting really tight in the fight for direct participation in the play-offs: Due to the 4:5 home defeat against SC Riessersee on Friday evening, EC Peiting lost to its competitors, who also finished sixth in the Oberliga Süd im have a look at ground.

"We weren't bad, maybe a little scared," said ECP trainer Anton Saal.

As is so often the case when things are not going well in sport, the problem is in the head.

"The self-image is missing," says Saal.

He now wants to try to raise the players up again in talks.

The start was promising: Riessersee received a penalty after just 33 seconds.

Peiting put a lot of pressure on the power play.

Ty Morris and Shane Heffernan just missed a goal.

After that, however, the SCR took over the initiative, also because it was often able to drive into the hosts' defense zone quite unchallenged.

The playful overweight led to several chances.

Peiting's goalkeeper Florian Hechenrieder had to show his skills again, which he reliably did.

He was not to blame for the three goals conceded in the first period.

Returnee Thomas Heger scores twice

In the 0:1 (6th) through Anton Radu, the SCR striker prevailed against two defenders.

The 0:2 (10th) was preceded by coordination problems in the ECP defense - Tobias Kircher scored.

Outnumbered, Peiting reduced it to 1:2 (18');

Marco Habermann deflected the shot from Andreas Feuerecker.

Peiting seemed to be back on track, Tim Rohrbach took dangerous shots twice.

Then a penalty slowed down the ECP – Riessersee made it 3:1 (20th) through Michael Knaub.

In the middle third, the ECP went to work in a much more physical way.

The duel on the ice picked up speed and finally had real derby character.

Thomas Heger used a Rohrbach shot deflected by the SCR to make it 2:3 (22nd).

The striker with the number 24 had to pause for a long time – also because of a corona infection.

Heger has already extended his contract for the next season, as was announced on the fringes of the game.

"Thomas is important to us," emphasized Saal.

EC peiting with many chances in the middle third

Riessersee responded promptly after conceding a goal: Marlon Wolf pulled out of his own zone, was not disturbed and scored to make it 4:2 (23rd).

As the game progressed, Peiting created many opportunities.

Nardo Nagtzaam narrowly missed the goal (23'), Dominic Krabbat failed completely free at SCR keeper Michael Böhm (24') and Heger shot over the empty goal (25').

SCR keeper Böhm had already driven the ECP to despair at 0: 3 on Tuesday.

With a majority, the ECP then came close to a goal several times;

Habermann even failed at the post (28th).

Lukas Gohlke made sure that Peiting did not go completely unrewarded: he converted a pass from Heffernan to make it 3:4 (32nd).

"We currently have to work a lot for a goal," said ECP coach Saal.

After another ECP power play, Riessersee was able to free himself a little.

In the final minute of the middle section, Moritz Israel failed because of the outstanding reaction of Hechenrieder.

Eight seconds before the siren, Bastian Eckl scored to make it 5:3.

Goals were scored at important times, said SCR trainer Pat Cortina.

In the final third, Peiting was often in the attacking zone, but there were no brilliant ideas.

Even with a majority, not much went together.

In the power play, "we were too sloppy with the passes," criticized Saal.

A Peitinger penalty (54th) gave the SCR, who produced numerous icings, additional breathing space.

Peiting came into the power play again in the final phase (56th) and took the goalkeeper off the ice early on.

But time was running more and more against the ECP.

Heger's goal to make it 4:5 (60 th ) briefly raised hopes of an equalizer, but SC Riessersee brought together their fifth win in a row over time.
