In view of the Ukraine conflict, TSV 1860 investor Hasan Ismaik shared a daring proposal: a special derby between FC Bayern Munich and the lions.
Munich - In Milan, London or Madrid, even in Berlin, there are regular city derbies between the local football clubs.
The football fans from Munich haven't seen a clash between FC Bayern and TSV 1860 for more than 14 years.
This might change soon!
FC Bayern vs TSV 1860 Munich?
Lion investor Hasan Ismaik with a crazy derby idea
Ironically, Hasan Ismaik, majority shareholder of the traditional club TSV 1860 Munich, now initiated this idea.
However, the trigger for this was not a marketing idea, but the conflict in Ukraine.
The Jordanian, who began his controversial engagement with the Lions in 2011, commented on the current situation in a statement on social media.
“I very much regret that there is a senseless war in Europe, more precisely in Ukraine.
Every fatality is one too many,” wrote the 44-year-old.
Ismaik seems to care about helping people in the crisis area, which is why he is calling on both his club and the top dog to do a joint relief effort.
“We can also support families in need.
I have an idea how we as TSV 1860 Munich could help the people in Ukraine - with a city derby in the Olympic Stadium against FC Bayern," said Ismaik.
FC Bayern: benefit game against TSV 1860 Munich?
Ismaik hopes for an answer from the record champions
According to Ismaik, the duel between the German series champion and the seventh-placed player in the 3rd division would be an "absolute highlight".
In his statement, the former billionaire described the Olympic Stadium as a “place steeped in history”; the 1972 Olympic Games took place here 50 years ago.
According to Ismaik, the city duel would be a highlight "for the wonderful city of Munich", but the focus is said to be "the expected proceeds for the many needy people from Ukraine".
The often criticized majority shareholder is "aware that we primarily need the willingness and heart of FC Bayern".
He suspects that the "neighboring club will not reject this idea and is open to this bridge-building proposal and shakes hands with us".
After all, it's about people "who innocently lost everything overnight".
FC Bayern vs. TSV 1860 Munich - city derby as a "sign of solidarity" in the Ukraine conflict?
Now it remains to be seen whether Ismaik's proposal, which is described as a "sign of cohesion", will even reach the Bayern bosses.
From a sporting point of view, a test match would probably be of little importance, but for fans of both camps it would be a journey into a bygone era.
The two clubs faced each other in a total of 164 competitive games, but the last meeting was on February 27, 2008. Since the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup in the 2007/08 season, in which FC Bayern only secured a penalty from Franck Ribéry in was able to prevail in the 120th minute, there was no more duel between red and blue.
