Hamburger SV continued to lose ground in the fight for promotion places in the 2nd Bundesliga.
A week after the defeat in the northern derby against Werder Bremen, Tim Walter's team lost in the next top game in the second division at 1. FC Nürnberg 1: 2 (1: 1).
In front of 25,000 spectators in the sold-out Max Morlock Stadium, Pascal Köpke first scored for Franconia (15th minute), Ludovit Reis (25th) equalized for HSV.
Nuremberg's full-back Tim Handwerker surprised Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes shortly before the end and hit the far post with his weak foot (88').
Because city rivals FC St. Pauli and SV Darmstadt 98 both won their games, HSV are already six points behind on a direct promotion rank for HSV nine games before the end of the season.
The Nürnbergers overtook HSV with the three points and are again involved in the promotion race.
An advantage for Hamburg could be the supposedly simple remaining program: Seven of the nine other opponents of HSV are in the bottom half of the table.
Competitor Schalke 04 experienced an unexpected setback in the 3:4 against Hansa Rostock.
SV Werder Bremen plays against Dynamo Dresden on Sunday (1.30 p.m.) and can regain the top of the table.
