SV Werder Bremen remains unbeaten in their tenth game under coach Ole Werner.
The 2-1 (2-1) home win against Dynamo Dresden meant Bremen's ninth win since Werner took office, and Werder went back to the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga.
The early lead by Ransford-Yeboah Königsdorffer (2nd minute) was turned around by Niclas Füllkrug (16th/45th) with a brace before the break.
The Dresdeners, who were threatened with relegation, did not make it easy for the Bremen team: In the first game under new coach Guerino Capretti, who had succeeded Dynamo's promotion coach Alexander Schmidt, the outsider put pressure on early on.
Königsdorffer's opening goal after a corner (2nd) was already indicated in the first scenes.
In return, Werder's Marvin Ducksch missed a good chance to equalize (3'), and then a fast-paced game developed with chances for both clubs.
In the end, Bremen's individual class also made the difference: goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka kept Bremen in the game with seven sometimes demanding saves, while in front the ball was shot.
A one-two with Ducksch (16') and a header just before the break gave Werder the lead (45').
The strike duo of Füllkrug/Ducksch is the most successful in the second division. This season the Bremen center forwards have already scored four more goals (28) than the entire Dresden team (24).
In the promotion race, Werder is still just ahead of Darmstadt 98 and FC St. Pauli, but was able to extend the lead over the ambitious pursuers HSV and Schalke 04 to seven points.
Next Saturday Bremen have to play at 1. FC Heidenheim, who as seventh in the table only have minimal chances of promotion.
