The Ice Pirates conceded three goals in the last four minutes and lost 5:6 in Ulm.

Dorfen – Too many penalties in the final third were fatal to ESC Dorfen.

On Sunday evening, VfE Ulm/Neu-Ulm won 6:5 (2:2, 1:2, 3:1) from the home ice.

The derby had left its mark on the ESC - at least as far as the line-up was concerned.

Compared to Friday, Kirsch, Dietrich, Fischer and Schuhmann were missing.

Another quartet with Rosenkranz, Obermaier, Huber and Steiger has been on the list for a long time.

Ulm/Neu-Ulm was able to muster almost the best cast for this.

In the game, the ice pirates didn't show anything.

The stadium clock showed 2:01 playing time when Josef Folger scored the lead.

The 21-year-old led the nominal third line of attack with Jonas Blaha, also only 22, and Dario Braun (23) from 1b.

The lead lasted only 49 seconds until Florian Döring equalized.

The 2:1 of the Donau Devils by Stefan Rodrigues was the only penalty in Dorfen in this part of the game, which also affected “Seppi” Folger.

In the 10th and 15th minute, the hosts visited the penalty box.

Urban Sodja, Tomas Vrba and Gaspr Susanj had the equalizer on the racket.

Jonas Blaha marked it again from the third row.

This was the score after a very offensive 20 minutes with lots of chances to score.

With Maximilian Güßbacher at Ulm and Andreas Marek at ESC, there were two excellent goalkeepers between the posts.

Ulm also took the lead in the second third thanks to a number goal – Dominik Synek scored the goal after 63 seconds.

Another two minutes later followed the next Dorfen penalty.

For ESC ice hockey boss Manfred Detterbeck, this suspension against Sodja seemed "to have flipped a switch, because we were getting stronger and stronger".

Two suspensions against Ulm brought nothing countable.

In this section of the game, the second half belonged to the ice pirates.

Christoph Lönnig and Sodja ensured the 4:3 lead at the break.

The Slovenian top scorer made it 5:3 in the final round and it was finally a goal with a majority.

Was it also a power issue?

As a result, Dorfen received too many penalties.

The two-goal lead lasted until a good four minutes before the end.

Robin Maag scored the goal with the majority, and when veteran Susanj received a double penalty, Maag and Kai Laux punished it again.
