Terrifying: Reports of 17 fatalities in fan fights while playing in Mexico
The match between Cartaro and Atlas was stopped in the 62nd minute following a flare-up in the stands, which developed into a mass brawl inside and outside the stadium.
Women and children have fled, the extent of the destruction is still unclear.

Shocking photos in Mexico: At least 22 fans were injured last night (Saturday through Sunday) during riots in the league game between Cartaro and Atlas.
According to unofficial reports, at least 17 of the fans were killed during the violent brawls, which ended the game in the 62nd minute with Atlas leading 0-1.
The riots in the stands caused the game to stop, as mentioned, and immediately afterwards hundreds of fans infiltrated the lawn, and began to riot and quarrel on the surface, in the stands and also outside the stadium.
In photos and videos from the tragic event, women and children are seen fleeing the stands in terror, with wounded people lying on the floor in critical condition.

Players from both teams tried to reach out to the fans and calm the winds after the VAR position was also completely destroyed, but after the police cleared the stadium the focus of the fighting moved to the surrounding streets.
According to the official report of the Cartaro police, it is not yet possible to announce the deaths as a result of the riots, however events still claim that there are a number of deaths for sure.
"Currently no deaths have been reported. 22 wounded have been evacuated to hospitals, most of them in stable condition. As far as we know, all the wounded are men," it was reported.
