The SpVgg Altenerding landed a 77:67 work victory against strong Vilsbiburg.
Altenerding - The basketball players of SpVgg Altenerding remain undefeated and in the playoff places of the district league.
The team of head coach Christos Paraschidis defeated the baskets from Vilsbiburg in the Korbinian-Aigner-Gymnasium 77:67 (34:38) despite a few short-term failures.
Another strong team effort ensured victory, with five players scoring in double figures.
The guests got off to a better start and were 10:1 in the lead.
The Vilsbiburgers shone with some nice attacks and dunks.
Nevertheless, the hosts remained calm and were able to shorten the lead to 19:20 by the quarter break.
The physically superior Vilsbiburgers, who played with some players from their Bayernliga team, made life difficult for the hosts, especially in the first half.
This was also due to the very small squad of SpVgg Altenerding.
Philipp Sirkanthan (knee problems), Luis Winkler (bereavement), Mirko Mitrovic (illness), Justin Ledbetter (professional), Camilo Schmutter and Kristof Vadasz (both on vacation) could not play.
Lorenz Wolf was still visibly struck after his corona disease.
To make matters worse, Robert Csaki injured himself while warming up.
Because of the very small rotation and in order not to get into foul problems, the Altenerdingers allowed the Vilsbiburgers many free throws in the first round.
Hence the gap at half-time of 34:38.
In the second round, however, SpVgg turned up the heat.
The defense made life difficult for the guests.
The guests' all-field press was also cleverly overplayed by experienced players Richardson, Wolf and Amani.
Defense specialist Krsto Milivojevic shone in attack, becoming the top scorer with 17 points.
"Krsto had a lot of bad luck on offense in the last few games, so I'm all the more pleased that it worked out so well for him this time," said Guard Wolf about his team-mate.
SpVgg was 20 points ahead five minutes before the end.
The guests got a little closer, but the victory of Altenerdinger, who haven't lost a game in their own hall for three years now, was undeniable.
"It wasn't a nice game, the main thing was to win.
We really had to fight with this small squad against very active, young, hungry Vilsbiburgers.
It was a work win,” said three-man specialist Sebastian Weber.
