"Peißenberg Miners": Now sometimes lucky goals are scored

At the end of the promotion round, things are going well for the "Miners": At ESC Kempten, the team has now achieved their third win in a row, and a clearer one at that.

Peißenberg – In the final sprint of the promotion round, the “Peißenberg Miners” are unstoppable.

Against ESC Kempten, the team of the Stefan Ihsen/Sepp Staltmayr trainer team got their third win in a row.

The "Miners" won 7:3 against the Allgäuers, who have already qualified for the play-offs in the Bavarian league in third place and who two days earlier in Amberg had caused unpleasant headlines by provoking a game abandonment.

"Today the team proved again that they can do it," said Staltmayr after the well-deserved away win, with which his team avenged the 5-9 defeat in the first leg.

At that time, the "Sharks" bit four times outnumbered.

They also scored three times on the power play on their own ice.

"The ESC has good players with a majority, you can't completely eliminate them," explained Staltmayr.

Nevertheless, he praised his weakened defensive (there were only five defenders available): "Overall, we defended well."

Youngster Degenstein with a great individual action

Lars Grötzinger (7th) gave the hosts the lead on the power play.

The answer of the "Miners" was not long in coming.

A good attack from the third row equalized through Markus Andrä (12').

Youngster Denis Degenstein provided the preparation for this, scoring the 2:2 (19th minute) with a remarkable individual action shortly before the end of the period.

The Peißenberger drove through the entire third of the attack and then played goalkeeper Darian Sommerfeld.

Before that, ex-Peitinger Max Schäffler (17th) scored 2-1 in Kempten.

In the second half, the guests took control of the game - and it showed on the scoreboard.

Maximilian Malzatzki scored to make it 3-2 (31st).

A double pack from Sinan Ondörtoglu, who first used a solo (32nd) and then a three-on-one situation (37th), finally gave the Peißenbergers a comfortable 5:2 lead.

In the middle third, Peißenberg pulls away

Right at the beginning of the final round, Grözinger (41.) made the game exciting again with his second power play goal to make it 3:5 - but only for a short time.

Degenstein (43rd) pulled away without further ado, his durable shot slipped Danny Schubert, who had moved into the ESC box in the middle of the second round, over the catch hand to make it 6: 3.

"Now things like that are slipping in after we were very unlucky at the beginning of the promotion round," said Staltmayr, whose team no longer has a play-off chance.

The Peissenbergers then managed the three-goal lead without any major problems, as goalkeeper Korbinian Sertl could once again be relied on.

He defused one or the other dangerous Kempten action in front of his box.

Niko Fissekis (60th) scored the final point with the empty net goal to make it 7:3.
