First win in the fourth derby: ESC Dorfen wins 5-1 in Erding.

Erding/Dorfen

– The ESC Dorfen managed the surprise.

In the fourth derby against the Erding Gladiators this season, the Ice Pirates clinched their first win away on Tuesday evening with a 5-1 (2-0, 2-1, 1-0) win.

The hosts ultimately failed because of their nerves and ESC goalkeeper Luca Endres.

Looking at the two squads, the difference could hardly have been greater.

Here the Gladiators, for the first time this season in full force with 20 field players, including Babic and Spindler.

There the ice pirates with 14 field players, without the injured Schuhmann and Dietrich and the suspended Lönnig and Schroepfer, but again with Fischer and Kirsch.

It went straight to the point, the first penalty against Erding in the first minute.

But Dorfen's powerplay was just as ineffective as Erdinger's after the first Dorfen penalty (4').

Then the Gladiators put a lot of pressure on and ESC goalkeeper Luca Endres had to do hard work.

In the 10th minute, the hosts already had the goal scream on their lips after a shot by Sebastian Busch, but a minute later the guests were allowed to celebrate.

Josef Folger duped the Gladiators defense and scored to make it 1-0 (11th).

And just 85 seconds later, Dorfen led 2-0 when Tomas Vrba dusted off.

The double strike had an effect, the vigor of the Erdingers was gone for the time being.

In the middle period, the Gladiators got off to a lightning start, because after just 97 seconds Florian Zimmermann chased the puck under the bar to make it 1:2.

Erding continued to press the button, but Endres held up superbly.

And when the ice pirates were slowly able to free themselves, an oblique shot from Simon Franz made it 3-1 (30').

With Erdinger outnumbered, keeper Endres was in constant focus, but could not be defeated.

When Dorfen was complete again, Urban Sodja countered and completed it to make it 4-1 (36').

This hit clearly left its mark on the hosts, who now acted overly nervous and could hardly control a puck properly.

The ice pirates played the final third very cleverly.

They stood low and let the Erdinger run up.

And when they then had the majority, Gasper Susanj made it 5: 1 – the decision (45th).

Characteristic of the Gladiators game that evening was a scene in the 52nd minute when Zimmermann shot wide of the empty goal.

Then a used gladiators day was over - for the ice pirates it was a great one though.
