Unfulfilled hopes: TSV Jahn Freising also loses in Vilsbiburg

The basketball players of TSV Jahn Freising also had no chance at Vilsbiburg II - but a Jahn youngster earned top marks.

– Two catch-up games were on the program for the Bayernliga basketball team from TSV Jahn Freising last weekend: After the full 54:106 swatter against championship candidate TV Traunstein on Friday, the Domstadt team didn’t stand a chance in the away game at Baskets Vilsbiburg II on Sunday either.

They clearly lost to the previous seventh in the table by 47:79 (12:24, 20:49, 41:63).

The Freisingers had secretly hoped for a surprise.

Although they lost the first leg against Vilsbiburg 75:86, they were even.

"We're not without a chance this time either," Jahn coach Michael Buhl encouraged his team.

The cautious optimism was also due to the fact that Freisinger had put up a good fight against Traunstein in the first half on Friday evening and kept showing their potential again and again.

"If we had only played so well, we could have kept up against Vilsbiburg," says Buhl.

Freising leaves the field to the hosts

In fact, in the first few minutes it looked as if the Jahn-Korbjäger could build on the performance from the first half against Traunstein.

"We didn't play that badly at all," said Buhl, who then had to watch as his team gave up the field to the hosts.

Vilsbiburg began to act very physically.

The Freisingers don't like that at all.

"I told the team in the dressing room that they should play physically," says Buhl.

But instead of fighting back, the Jahn basketball players kept getting upset and complaining to the referees.

The result: the Vilsbiburgers pulled away.

From Freising's point of view, the second quarter was an absolute disaster.

Nothing was going on at all, the preliminary decision had been made.

It didn't help that the guests remembered their strengths in the third quarter: When they brought more train into play, acted more concentrated and aggressive on the defensive and combined quickly on the offensive, the Vilsbiburg team had problems.

Only six Jahn points in the fourth quarter

The strong performance in the third quarter was ultimately just a flash in the pan.

In the fourth round, Freising was out of breath - they only scored six points.

Ultimately, this was also due to the fact that only eight players are currently available.

Therefore, Buhl wants to check off the defeat in Vilsbiburg quickly.

"We have to look ahead," says the Jahn coach.

He now hopes that one or the other ailing player will be fit again by Saturday, when Der Jahn welcomes Landsberger to the basement duel.

A ray of hope in the Jahn team was Sorin Sabau from their own U20s, who has been there for three games and earned top marks on Sunday.

Coach Buhl was enthusiastic about his commitment.

He is one of the few players who played physical.
