Novak Djokovic has been entered into the draw for Tuesday's Indian Wells ATP tournament, but it is unclear whether he will take part because he has not been vaccinated against Covid-19, organizers said.
A brief statement from tournament organizers said officials were in contact with Djokovic's team to determine whether he would play in California or even be allowed to enter the United States in the absence of a vaccination.

Novak Djokovic is on the tournament entry list and is therefore placed in the draw today
," the tournament chiefs said.

We are currently in communication with his team;
however, it has not been determined whether he will participate in the event by obtaining approval from the CDC, the main public health agency in the United States, to enter the country
.
Djokovic is a five-time champion at Indian Wells, where organizers have said proof of vaccination will be required for spectator entry.

Under US government regulations, all non-US citizen travelers entering the United States must be vaccinated against Covid-19.
Djokovic had presented himself, unvaccinated, in early January in Melbourne to glean a 21st Grand Slam title, which would have been the absolute record ahead of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
He had finally been expelled from Australia, epilogue of a long saga around his vaccination status, after having failed to convince the justice of this country to accept his appeal against the cancellation of his visa by the government.
