Athlete Hannah Minenko, Eden Belcher and Shelly Bobricki, the duet in artistic swimming and the sailing team Shahar Tibi, members of the Israeli delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, participated last night (Tuesday) in a seminar for athletes only in honor of International Women's Day.

The seminar, organized by the Israel Olympic Committee, was attended by about 40 female athletes from Israel's Olympic and Paralympic teams.

During the festive evening, which was held as part of the activities of the scientific-medical envelope, the athletes heard three fascinating lectures that dealt with medical and gender issues.

Prof. Naama Konstantini,

an expert in family medicine and sports medicine, lectured on low energy availability and its impact on health and athletic achievement.

Dr. Einat Chaikin-Herzberger,

a senior gynecologist at Meir Hospital and a consultant to the Israel Olympic Committee, lectured on the effects of the menstrual cycle on performance in sports.

Jordan Har Lev,

head of the education department at the Israel Olympic Committee, lectured on landmarks with the participation of women in the Olympic Games.

Yael Arad

, Chairman of the Israel Olympic Committee: "In recent years, thanks to the achievements of athletes, Israeli sports have become one of the driving forces of excellence of Israeli society, and we have a responsibility to continue to march forward to further heights.

I believe that diverse, egalitarian and inclusive leadership will improve the envelope required of female athletes and enable a pleasant, safe and protected work environment that encourages professional challenges.

"Women's Day is one moment in 365 days a year, to stop and think about what we have managed to do so far in the field of gender equality and diversity and what more we need to do."

Susie Yogev

, Chair of the Gender Equality Committee at the Israel Olympic Committee: "The Gender Equality Committee for all its members and members is working hard throughout the year to reduce the gaps between women and men in sports in Israel.

The relevant diversity that has for years been a cause for discrimination against women, is the reason for changing the existing laws in order to create equality.

Recognizing the unique needs of women does not mean affirmative action but a policy of neutralizing diversity and designing the appropriate rules for the relevant diversity of women.

Conference today, put a spotlight on some of these aspects as a tool of knowledge and conduct of accomplished athletes.

We are proud of all the athletes and believe that sport benefits all those who engage in it, both men and women. "

Gili Lustig,

CEO of the Israel Olympic Committee: "I welcome the initiative to hold a seminar for female athletes on topics that are relevant and unique to them.

The Israel Olympic Committee, through the Committee on Gender Equality, headed by Susie Yogev, is making every effort to reduce the gaps between women and men and increase awareness of the issue of protection and sexual harassment. "
