During the Corona crisis, FC Bayern had to forego a lot of income.

Now the record champions are looking forward to a three-digit million deal.

Munich – FC Bayern* has been in power in the Bundesliga for a decade, otherwise the sporting and financial dominance of the series champion can hardly be described.

In an international comparison, however, the 2020 Champions League winner must be careful not to be left behind on an economic level by investor clubs such as PSG* or the clubs from the Premier League*.

New sponsorship contracts should now bring the necessary money, according to a report, the main sponsor should even have improved the conditions.

FC Bayern: Bundesliga leader is still suffering from the Corona crisis – the main sponsor is probably extending it

For two years now, the corona pandemic * in Germany has been causing financial deficits in professional clubs, and Bayern also suffered from the game being suspended for several months and the many ghost games.

"Every home game without spectators means a loss of income of at least 3.5 million euros for us.

That hits us very hard, ”said President Herbert Hainer to

Bild

at the beginning of December last year .

According to the current regulation, 25,000 are allowed in the Allianz Arena*, i.e. a third of the maximum capacity.

In other top leagues, such as England, full stadiums have been the norm for weeks.

In the midst of this crisis, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for Bayern, and the main sponsor Telekom* is mainly responsible for this.

The logo of the telecommunications provider has adorned the chest of FC Bayern's match and training clothing since 2002.

And the distinctive logo with the T will not disappear from the jerseys in the future either, as a recent jersey leak already suggested*.

Despite the Corona crisis, Telekom is ready to extend the contract, which originally expired in 2023, and to increase the volume of sponsorship, as reported by

Sport Bild

.

FC Bayern: Mega deal with main sponsor Telekom - 200 million euros waving for the record champions

According to information from the newspaper, the new contract should apply from the summer, instead of the previous 45 million euros per season, the sum should increase to 50 million euros per season.

Depending on the success, this number could even increase.

If the contract is expected to end in 2026, the total volume would amount to 200 million euros.

The windfall also means planning security for Bayern, especially with regard to extensions with the top-class stars or possible newcomers.

The contract with the important sponsor Allianz also expires in 2023, but the insurance group has already secured the naming rights to the arena until 2030. A continuation of the partnership with the partner is therefore very likely, but the conditions would have to be renegotiated.

FC Bayern Munich: Controversial Qatar sponsorship overshadowed Lufthansa payments

The handling of the controversial sponsor Qatar Airways will be particularly interesting for the fans.

The logo of the national airline of the controversial World Cup* host has been on the sleeves of Bayern jerseys since 2018, for which Munich collects a high double-digit million amount per season,

Sport Bild

speaks of 20 million euros.

Previously, the Bavarians had a partnership with Lufthansa, but according to the report, the airline only paid 2.5 million euros a year.

The sponsorship from Qatar is enormously important from an economic point of view, but on a social level it is an own goal for FC Bayern*.

FC Bayern: Club will soon consider continuing the partnership with Qatar Airways - contract only until 2023

Despite all the reports about the exploitation of many migrant workers and thousands of deaths on the World Cup construction sites in Qatar, the Bavarians entered into the partnership.

The receipt for this was given at the last annual general meeting at the end of November, when the situation came to a head.

Loud protests erupted after an application for a possible vote on continuing Qatar's dubious sponsorship was rejected.

The event was then canceled without further ado.

Since then, however, there has been an exchange between fans and club.

As

Sport Bild

also writes, CEO Oliver Kahn* will soon seek dialogue with Qatar Airways and will probably have to travel to the emirate for this.

The partnership is only planned until 2023, so it may now be necessary to check whether the company would want to continue to cooperate with Bayern despite the fans' rejection.

The last word has not yet been spoken regarding Qatar Airways, but the Bayern bosses can at least give themselves a light pat on the back in view of the Telekom deals.
