Chelsea FC are facing uncomfortable times because of the Ukraine war.
Club owner Roman Abramovich has been severely sanctioned by the British government.
Munich/London - In purely sporting terms, Chelsea FC is probably going through the most successful period in the club's history.
In the league, coach Thomas Tuchel's team "only" ranks 3rd in the table and in the final of the League Cup they recently lost dramatically to Liverpool FC.
But: In the past season they won the Champions League* and thus took the crown in European club football.
But now the great times could suddenly be over.
The reason?
The war in Ukraine*!

Fatal consequences for DFB stars?
No transfers, no ticket sales, not even an open fan shop: The British government has severely sanctioned the Blues and its Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
The planned sale of the traditional club, which has been financially almost carefree for 19 years thanks to the oligarch, has also been put on hold for the time being.
The west London club faces an uncertain future.
Even a stop to the game was in the room, but Boris Johnson's government prevented this with a special license.
This allows Chelsea to "continue to play football matches and engage in other football-related activities to protect the Premier League, the football pyramid, loyal fans and other clubs," it said in a statement.

So while the ball is still rolling, unlike the ruble, there are sometimes severe sanctions.
In the future, only season ticket holders will be allowed into the stadium at Stamford Bridge, and the sale of day tickets is prohibited.
The fan shop must also be closed.
Reason: Abramovich is no longer allowed to earn money with Chelsea.
A total of seven Russians are on the new London list.
"Today's sanctions show once again that oligarchs and kleptocrats have no place in our economy and society," said British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
Given their close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, they are "complimentary in his aggression."

War in Ukraine: Does Rüdiger have to leave Chelsea now?
Abramovich recently announced that he would travel to Stamford Bridge one last time to watch a game of his blues.
Now that seems pretty unrealistic.
The future of DFB stars Kai Havertz, Antonio Rüdiger and Timo Werner is uncertain.
In addition, the Blues are no longer allowed to transfer players or sign new contracts.
Particularly spicy: Rüdiger's contract expires in the summer, clubs like FC Bayern and Juventus Turin had recently signaled an interest.
But even if Rüdiger wanted to extend the contract in London - he couldn't do it at the moment....
