Rebecca Baich overcame the serious leg injury and is preparing for the competition in Manchester in May • Taekwondo fighter for "Israel Today": "I did rehabilitation at Wingate and I am still continuing it, already waiting to return to the arena"

After being seriously injured in the leg in a competition in Montenegro in October, taekwondo fighter Rebecca Baich has returned to gradually train with the team to prepare for the upcoming European Championships in May in Manchester, England, where she will return to the podium.

Baikh, 22, immigrated to Israel at the age of 4. She began practicing taekwondo as part of an "immigrant" project that encourages young athletes from the Ethiopian community to engage in Olympic martial arts, and is organized by the Gunter family from the United States.

As you may recall, at the age of 16, Baich was amazed when she won a silver medal at the European Youth Championships, and since then she has recorded a number of achievements, the most notable of which was a bronze medal at the last European Championships in Sofia, but the injury prevented her from continuing momentum.

Haich told Israel Today about her return: "It's been five months since the injury and I did a repeat MRI and took opinions from some orthopedists and I think I can go back to training and even compete in the upcoming European Senior Championships in May. There is improvement and I also feel good."

"I did rehabilitation at Wingate and I still continue it and in collaboration with the team's physiotherapist and masseur who take care of me in the best and professional way with the whole medical envelope. Of course I will have to do some tests and fights for the Japanese exit to the championship and see how the leg responds.
