There is no other way: The Grünwalder Stadium can only be rebuilt when the Olympic Stadium is finished.

TSV 1860 Munich will be at home at Oberwiesenfeld for a while.

Munich – The large sports facilities in the Bavarian capital need renovation cures.

The hanging section around the Grünwalder Stadium is based on the work in the Olympic Stadium.

The renovation project in Oberwiesenfeld is already underway.

The Olympic Stadium can currently be played on at the same time.

Türkgücü Munich is currently playing its home games there.

But in autumn 2024 there will be an end to sport for the time being, confirms a spokeswoman for Munich's sports mayor Verena Dietl (SPD) when asked by Fußball Vorort/FuPa Oberbayern.

Munich: Olympic Stadium closed from autumn 2024 to spring 2026 - Grünwalder conversion only afterwards

The Olympic Stadium will be closed from autumn 2024 to spring 2026.

Then fire protection, operating technology, steel components, concrete and interiors should have been brought into shape.

The Munich city council plans at least 130 million euros for the project.

And then it continues in Giesing.

The Grünwalder stadium is to be renovated and expanded for around 70 million euros.

In its current form, the city stadium is not approved for playing in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Munich wants to change that.

The plans have been in place for two years, and the city council wants to decide on the stadium renovation on March 30th.

A draft resolution is expected to be published next Friday.

Grünwalder Stadion: Reconstruction affects TSV 1860 Munich in particular - FC Bayern II could play on campus

But one after the other.

The work in the Olympic Stadium must first be completed before the excavators roll to Giesing.

Otherwise, TSV 1860 Munich would probably not have a home ground, explains Verena Dietl's office.

The Allianz Arena shouldn't be an option for the lions and the city doesn't have any other arenas where professional football can be played.

So there will be no football in Giesing for at least one calendar year.

The Grünwalder Stadion is currently used by TSV 1860 Munich, FC Bayern II and at times Türkgücü Munich.

There would also be enough space for them in the Olympic Stadium.

The lions could well be the sole hosts in Oberwiesenfeld in two years.

Türkgücü Munich will probably not hold up in professional football.

If the small Bavarians don't get promoted by then, they could possibly switch to the campus in Freimann.

With only 2,500 spaces in Ingolstädter Strasse, a special permit from the BFV would also be required in the regional league.

Should FC Bayern II play in the 3rd division, the campus is not an option.

But then it would be obvious that the amateurs play in the Allianz Arena, so that the club saves the rent for the Olympic Stadium.
