In the pre-play-offs, EC Peiting is fighting against EV Lindau to advance.

A look at the direct duels this season shows: Excitement is almost guaranteed.

Peiting – EC Peiting had to be “detained” nine times this season – i.e. in overtime or even in a penalty shoot-out, because there was no winner after 60 minutes.

Only three times it went into overtime against EV Lindau.

The fourth duel against the "Islanders" was also hard fought and ended after regulation time with only one goal difference.

From this point of view, tension is almost guaranteed when the two teams meet again in the pre-play-offs of the Oberliga Süd.

"It will be a really tough number and a duel on an equal footing", ECP trainer Anton Saal expects a hot dance against the EVL.

The “best of three” mode is about getting into the play-offs.

This means that whoever has two wins first can go into the knockout phase with the teams from the North season.

Peitinger anticipation of the pre-play-offs

The disappointment of the people from Peiting, losing sixth place in the final sprint, which they had held for a long time and which would have saved them the detour via the pre-play-offs, is now, according to Saal, a certain anticipation of the knockout duels with the "Islanders" gone.

"I have a lot of experienced players who know how to play play-offs," Saal sees his squad ready for the difficult task.

In such games, the psychological aspect always plays a role.

"The little things can make all the difference," Saal hopes that the number of mistakes his men make is limited and that the special teams work.

"In the play-offs, there are usually fewer penalties, so every overtime goal or goal conceded with a man down could be decisive," adds the ECP coach.

When it comes to “staff”, he has both good and bad news to offer.

Goalkeeper Florian Hechenrieder, who recently sat out due to back problems, is back.

And defender Fabian Weyrich should return to training at least next week, so that he can possibly be on the ice for the start of the play-offs on March 18th.

On the other hand, Simon Maier has problems with his groin again – the veteran has to take a break for at least four weeks.

It is still questionable whether defender Christoph Frankenberg (ailing) can play.

His commitment also decides whether Saal will fall back on defender Lukas Motloch or striker Shane Heffernan.

Saal still has to weigh up who he needs more from among the contingent players, as Nardo Nagtzaam's naturalization has still not been completed.

"It can happen any day, but we don't know when," says Saal.

Special attention to top scorer Martin Mairitsch

In any case, he can better assess the Lindauers, where top scorer Martin Mairitsch (39 points/24 goals/15 assists) stands out.

"We have to watch out for him," says Saal about the Austrian, who plays in the second row and who is extremely dangerous even when outnumbered.

Saal has two other assets on the radar in Florian Lüsch (36 points/15 goals/21 assists) and Andreas Farny (29 points/3 goals/26 assists), who appear in the parade line of the “Islanders”.

Matthias Nemec is the clear number one in goal for the Lindauers - he has caused the people of Peiting some headaches in the past.

"We have to keep him busy," explains Saal.

The fact that Peitinger have home rights in a possible third game "could be the decisive factor," says Saal.

So that the winner is called "Peiting" in the end, a home win this Friday (7.30 p.m.) would be half the battle.

"I don't care if it's 5-1 or if we win after overtime," says Saal.

On Sunday (6 p.m.) we go to Lake Constance.

The possibly third game will take place again in Peiting on Tuesday (7.30 p.m.).
