In light of the sanctions imposed by the British government on a number of personalities close to Putin, including Roman Abramovich, the Premier League management decided today (Saturday) to officially remove the owner from office.

Abramovich has already announced his intention to sell Chelsea after several steps were taken against him due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has caused quite a bit of uncertainty around the European champions and world team champions.

Now, the decision has been officially made to take the blues out of the hands of the Russian businessman.

An official statement from the Premier League manager said that "the management's decision does not affect the team's ability to train and play its games until the end of the season, under the conditions approved by the government on the expiration license on May 31, 2022."

This means that Chelsea will be able to continue to function at least until the end of the season.
