After a 2:6 bankruptcy, the Schongau “Mammuts” no longer have a chance of making the play-offs.

They owe that mainly to their weak start in the derby.

Peißenberg/Schongau

– The last hope of participating in the play-offs was dashed for the Schongau “Mammuts” late on Friday evening: due to the 2:6 defeat in the derby against the “Peißenberg Miners” and the simultaneous 5:0 Victory over competitor ERSC Amberg, the team from Lech was already out of the running for a place in the top four in the Bayernliga promotion round before yesterday's last matchday.

The winner of the district duel was - not surprisingly - satisfied: "We wanted to build on the last three good games and we did that well," said "Miners" coach Stefan Ihsen.

Especially in the first third, the Peissenbergers literally rolled over the guests.

The conclusion of the "Mammuts" was accordingly: "Overall it was not the fight and the attitude that you have to show in the derby.

The performance of almost the entire team in the first third was unacceptable,” said Schongau's team manager Martin Resch, annoyed.

After less than 15 minutes it was already 4:0 for the "Miners".

"We were prepared for the Schongau game, and then a few goals just slipped in," said Ihsen, pleased that his team implemented the match plan and then had the necessary luck at the end.

4:0 for the Peißenberg "Miners" after 15 minutes

The Peißenbergers started straight away like the fire brigade: Sinan Ondörtoglu (4th) started a solo over half the field and finished it with the 1:0.

A little later Dominik Pawliczek (7th) succeeded in an action behind the EAS box – his shot was deflected unhappily by a Schongau player with his ice skate to make it 2-0.

Martin Lidl (11th) then used the first majority for the "Miners" to make it 3-0 in the margin.

Valentin Hörndl's good forechecking finally led to the fourth goal for the hosts: The disc landed on Dejan Vogl (15th), who caused long faces among the EAS fans in the 400 spectators who had traveled with him with the 4:0.

By the way, the Schongauers were not completely without a chance in the first third.

They knew how to keep Korbinian Sertl busy in the Peissenberger box - which was even beneficial to his form.

"If he saves the first shots, it will be very difficult to defeat him," said Resch after the guests went into the dressing room empty-handed.

For a short time, emotions boil up between “mammoths” and “miners”.

The “Mammuts” came back onto the ice with a little more momentum after the first break.

However, the EAS was rarely really compelling, since the "Miners" defense was very stable.

Daniel Holzmann (31st) first caused real danger with his solo, before Kevin Steiner (32nd) dusted off in the next attack to make it 1:4.

After the goal, the game, which had been splashing along for long stretches, picked up speed again.

During a tussle in front of the Peißenberg housing, emotions also ran high for a short time.

When Pawliczek (39th) scored in the power play (and another penalty against the guests) to make it 5:1, calm returned – the result was too clear.

Vogl (38th) missed a great chance to score a sixth goal shortly before the end of the third.

Ondörtoglu (43rd) filled the half-dozen;

he refined a strong preparatory work by Moritz Birkner with the 6:1.

After that, the air was out a little.

The Schongauer, where Florian Seelmann could not continue playing after a horse kiss, tried to make the looming defeat a little friendlier.

The EAS only became really dangerous in the last few minutes, when the "Miners" shifted down a gear.

Sertl prevented the second guest goal with a brilliant act when Jason Lavallee (52nd) went it alone.

The “Mammuts” then hit the post (55').

The Peissenbergers had a great chance through Hörndl (56').

In return, Roman Tomanek (57th) made the final score with his counterattack.
