Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma and three-time figure skating champion Irina Rodnina denounced the suspension of the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions.
"We see serious discrimination against Russian athletes on the basis of nationality, where the world sports federations have dropped their masks, and now everyone sees their real faces," Rodnina said.
Rodnina added that the decision of the International Skating Federation not to allow our athletes to participate in the world championships is a shot in the legs for them themselves, noting that the popularity of our athletes is huge, as fans want to see the best, forgetting the slogan that says that sports unite people around the world.
It is noteworthy that the International Ski Federation excluded Russian athletes from participating in the competitions under its auspices, and thus the skaters will be absent from the World Championships in Montpellier, France, which will be held from March 21 to 27.
