It's a blow!

For the player and his team.

PSG Handball announced on its website on Monday that Mikkel Hansen was to undergo surgery today for a cartilage problem in his right knee.

“In consultation with the Club, “Mikki” will perform this surgery in Denmark and then return within the week to carry out his rehabilitation with the medical staff of Paris Saint-Germain, the club said in a press release.

The unavailability of the Danish international is estimated between 4 to 6 weeks.

The double world champion (2019 and 2021) will therefore be one of the great absentees from the Golden League, an international tournament, which takes place this weekend in Denmark with Norway, Spain and France.

Paris concludes this 20th day with a magnificent kung-fu orchestrated by @Gerard_Vincent and @benileven.

The Parisians win and are now 9 points ahead of @HBCNantes at the top of the championship!

The secret of this operation had been well kept.

Sunday, under the eyes of Kylian Mbappé and his family, Mikkel Hansen indeed participated in the large and important victory of PSG against Nantes during the shock of the Starligue (34-28).

A success, the 20th in 20 league days this season, which brings the capital club a little closer to a new national title.

The choice to undergo this intervention on this date is however not insignificant.

The club indeed hopes to recover its player for the important deadlines of the end of the season.

If the man who has been voted the best player in the world on multiple occasions will miss the next matches of the French Championship and, above all, the knockout stages of the Champions League against the Norwegians of Elverum (first leg away on 30 or March 31, return to Paris on April 6 or 7), it is indeed expected for the quarter-finals at the beginning of mid-May.

Provided you pass the Norwegian obstacle…

Barring an accident, Hansen (1.96 m, 34 years old), who will leave the capital club at the end of the season to return to his country, in Aalborg, will therefore have the opportunity to play his last matches with PSG with the hope of finally winning the Champions League.
