The police team topped the general arrangement of the Judo Republic Championship for juniors and girls, which was set up by the Game Federation in the Al-Assad Sports City in Lattakia, with the participation of 175 male and female players who represented most of the provinces and clubs of the police, army, workers and youth bodies.
The Police Authority came first in the general arrangement of the participating teams with 5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze, followed by Damascus with 4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze, and Latakia third with 3 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze.
The results of the weight competitions in the junior category resulted in the victory of Raed Rahwan (45 kg), Maher Zakaria (50 kg), Abdul Karim Khallouf (55 kg), Jaafar Zaidan (60 kg), Ahmed Ibrahim (66 kg), Ahmed Al-Qaoud (73 kg), Majd Kadour (81 kg), Ammar Zain (90 kg) and Baraa Student weighing over 90 kg.
As for the women’s category, the women’s weight competitions ended with the victory of Aya Abu Ras (37 kg), Samila Barmada (40 kg), Aya Ali (44 kg), Arwa Marjan (48 kg), Laila Kanaan (52 kg), Sandra Obaid (57 kg), Haneen Al Halabi (63 kg), Helen Al Ali (70 kg), and Rand Saeed Weighing over 70 kg.
Secretary of the Judo Federation, Manal Badr, said in a statement to SANA, “The tournament enjoyed great participation from various governorates. It also witnessed remarkable skill levels and some good talents emerged. The coaches must prepare them in an optimal manner to be a tributary to the national team in its upcoming foreign participations, noting that the distinguished players will be involved.” In the Arab Championship to be held in Jordan later.
