Al-Ahly of Egypt defeated its Sudanese guest, Al-Merreikh, 3-1 in the match that brought them together today in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, as part of the fifth round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly's hat-trick was scored by Percy Tau, Mohamed Sherif and Ahmed Abdel-Qader, while Ramadan Ajab scored the only goal of Al-Marikh.
Al-Ahly, the defending champion, achieved its second victory in the current edition of the championship, with a draw and two defeats, raising its score to 7 points and occupying the runner-up position in the standings of the first group, while Al-Marikh's balance stopped at 4 points, occupying the fourth and last place on the ranking ladder.
