EC Peiting lost at the start of the Oberliga play-offs.

In the away game against the "Saale Bulls Halle", the Upper Bavarians had their problems in the power play.

Halle – When it comes to teams from Bavaria, the fans don't seem to differentiate between footballers and ice hockey players.

"Take off the Bavarians' lederhosen," the voice echoed through the "Eisdom" in Halle before the game.

Well, EC Peiting wasn't really duped in the first play-off game of the Oberliga round of 16.

However, in the end there was a 1:4 defeat at the "Saale Bulls Halle".

A moderate yield in the majority played a role in this: only one goal was scored from seven power play situations, including twice a double majority.

Both teams struggled to find each other for the first few minutes.

The people from Peiting had some good actions right away.

There was Ty Morris, who was immediately in play-off mode and cleared two opponents in the opposing zone before the puck was poked off his bat at the last moment.

Nardo Nagtzaam missed just barely: The ECP had provoked the hosts to lose a disc – the top scorer rushed towards the goal, but “Bulls” keeper Jakub Urbisch used his bat and saved the game (6th).

Then a shot by Louis Postel caused danger (11').

EC Peiting starts promising

A penalty against Peiting (14th) finally helped the nervous “Saale Bulls”.

After all, the majority game is one of the strengths of the Nord champions.

Halle immediately scored to make it 1-0 (15th minute) through Lukas Valasek, with top scorer Tatu Vihavainen shining with a strong preliminary work from his own zone.

The goal gave the hosts a boost.

After a period of pressure from the "Bulls", Michael Fomin made it 2-0 (17th).

Bad luck for Lukas Gohlke in this scene: Peitinger already had the bat on the puck, but could no longer prevent the shot.

It wasn't his fault: Peiting's Ty Morris (right) put in a strong performance in the play-off game against the "Saale Bulls Halle" (top scorer Tatu Vihavainen on the left).

In the middle third, the Halle team were there immediately.

The “Bulls” took advantage of a blatant mistake made by the Peitingers in building up the game: Jonas Niemelä converted the two-to-one situation to make it 3-0 (23rd).

Immediately afterwards, the Finn had two more top chances, with ECP keeper Florian Hechenrieder reacting once with great force.

When Peiting was outnumbered for the first time, Shane Heffernan immediately scored to make it 3-1 (28th).

Only a little later, the ECP had one man less on the ice – Halle's Roman Pfennings deflected the puck to make it 4:1 (32nd).

There was some discussion - skate goal or not?

– but the referees awarded the goal.

Halle outnumbered for around nine minutes in the middle third

As a result, the hosts afforded several penalties, some of which were unnecessary.

The ECP was in the majority for almost nine minutes – twice even with two more men on the ice for around half a minute.

However: A hit did not succeed despite some good actions.

In view of the many penalties in the middle section (14 minutes for Halle, six for Peiting), "it was difficult to get into a rhythm," said ECP captain Andreas Feuerecker in the break interview on "Sprade TV".

The ECP was still in the majority for the first 75 seconds in the last third, but there was no goal either.

Peiting was far from giving up.

Thomas Heger was unable to use a strong pass from Morris in front of goal (44th).

Shortly thereafter, Peiting survived a manpower game (46th).

The game remained hard-fought, but clear offensive actions were in short supply.

In play-off style, the players of both teams kept exchanging verbal "nice things".

Feuerecker shot just wide (50th).

Peiting was outnumbered again (56th), but once again nothing countable came out of it.

Heffernan failed in a solo attempt (58th) - it was the last dangerous action of the guests.

The second play-off game in Peiting is scheduled for Sunday, March 20th.

It starts at 18 o'clock.
