Victory in overtime: SC Riessersee wins dramatically in Hanover

In a high-class game, SC Riessersee won 4:3 after extra time in Hanover and took a 1:0 lead in the playoff round of sixteen.

Hanover – Atmospheric scenery, two teams playing to win and an end that can hardly be surpassed in terms of drama.

The first game of the round of 16 series in the Oberliga playoffs between the Hannover Scorpions and SC Riessersee was an advertisement for ice hockey – with a happier ending for Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Thanks to Robin Soudek's golden goal, the white-blues won 4:3 after extra time in the state capital of Lower Saxony.

Scanning, getting into the playoffs at a leisurely pace?

Not with Hanover and the SCR.

Both teams set a high pace from the start.

With a tie on the ice, the Riesserseers kept the favorites in check and didn't allow much.

It was different when the white-blues had to act outnumbered for the first time.

First power play by the Scorpions, first goal for the home side – one of the marks “unlucky”.

Tyler Gron looked for fellow striker Robin Just in the slot, Simon Mayr splashed in between, but steered the puck towards his own goal.

Excitingly slowly, the disc tumbled across the line.

The SCR was by no means shocked, but failed twice to equalize the lead of Lower Saxony with a majority.

At the beginning of the second section, Riessersee's Michael Knaub put his words into action – in a negative sense.

In the preliminary report of the Tagblatt, the attacker had announced that he would not spare Brother Victor on the Hanoverian side.

The check against the brother's head was then too much of a good thing.

For Knaub, who then complained too vehemently to the referee, it went to the penalty box for four minutes.

Two pointer turns later, Victor made the Knaub family reunion perfect in the penalty box – two minutes because of a stick hit.

The SCR was not deterred by the background noise and deservedly equalized to 1:1 through captain Florian Vollmer.

A little later it should get even better for the Werdenfelser.

Driven by the loud home fans, Hannover pressed for the equalizer at the beginning of the third period.

SCR goalie Daniel Allavena saved several times in dire need.

But he was powerless against Mario Valery Trabucco's shot from close range – 2:2.

Riessersee shocked, intimidated by the noisy backdrop?

Not at all.

Surplus SCR.

A shot by Aziz Ehliz, a duster by Knaub – and that was the lead again.

Just a moment ago, Ehliz was involved in the equalizer for the Hanoverians.

Patrick Klöpper let the SCR defender get out easily when he dribbled and served teammate Robin Just, who equalized again.

The game on a knife edge and the Werdenfelser under massive pressure.

During this phase, Allavena repeatedly prevented the Scorpions from scoring the winning goal.

A little later Hannover outnumbered, the winning goal fell - for the SCR.

Vollmer quickly to Robin Soudek – the Czech didn't give goalie Brett Jaeger a chance.

The rest was boundless cheering in white and blue – 1-0 for Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
