Leclerc takes first Formula 1 pole of the year

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc starts in Bahrain from pole position.

Monegasque Charles Leclerc raced to the first pole position of the new Formula 1 season.
The Ferrari driver will start from the front at the Grand Prix opener in Bahrain on Sunday (4:00 p.m. CET/Sky).
It was his tenth career pole.
Sakhir - Leclerc relegated world champion Max Verstappen to second place in the Red Bull.
Third under the floodlights of the Bahrain International Circuit was Leclerc's teammate Carlos Sainz.
Vice world champion Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes finished fifth.
Haas driver Mick Schumacher was eliminated in the second knockout round and finished twelfth.
Nico Hülkenberg as an Aston Martin replacement for Sebastian Vettel, who was suffering from corona, was 17. dpa
