The Erdinger ski clubs chose their fastest skiers.

Erding

- Moguls or icy slopes don't bother her at all.

Franziska Widl has been proving this on the ski slopes for years.

It was more difficult this time on the floor of the Erdinger Weißbräu because she had to use crutches to make her way to the winner's podium.

"Cruciate ligament rupture," she says later.

Not skiing, but soccer, her second passion.

"I already have the surgery appointment on Wednesday," reveals the 27-year-old.

Bad news for the competition: In the next ski season, they want to attack again.

But actually everyone who came to the award ceremony was happy.

After the Corona-related failure of the district cup series last season, the most important alpine competition in the district could be held again this year.

Eight runs over four days, around 150 giant slalom goals – then the winners were determined.

Whereby: Actually, the entire ski sport in the district was the winner.

At least that's how Timm Schröder, press spokesman for SC Buch, sees it. He organized the last of the four district cups and was therefore - according to tradition - also responsible for organizing the award ceremony.

"The cooperation between the ski clubs is simply outstanding," praises Schröder.

“We really work hand in hand.

Everyone helps the other and makes their material available.”

The races took place on the slopes in Kössen and Fügen.

The skiing aces found the most difficult conditions on the second day of the race.

"The track was so wet that the older drivers fell in rows," says Schröder.

"One runner even swept away the entire timing system," says Bucher.

However, the runner and the device would not have sustained any permanent damage.

It was unfortunate that the last day of the district cup suffered badly from the pandemic.

Due to numerous illnesses or quarantine cases, the field had shrunk from 94 to 81 participants.

Schröder was impressed by the commitment of the volunteers.

"They almost got into a fight to dismantle the course after the race," he says, adding with a wink: "Of course, that could also be because the material was transported away with the Skidoo and everyone wanted to ride with us."

In terms of sport, there were again some highlights.

With Matej Farsky from the Auerbach ski club, for example, a huge talent is growing up.

This also applies to Maja Weber (FC Lengdorf/U10 female), Kathleen Ilse (SC Auerbach/U16 female), Sophie Linsmayer (SC Dorfen/U18 female) and Leo Janocha (SC Dorfen/U18 male), who won the coveted challenge cup.

Linsmayer even for the third time in a row, which is why she is allowed to keep the trophy.

Markus Fimpel (SC Erding/men 51) won the adult cup.

Timo Neff, on the other hand, dominated the U16 competition.

The 14-year-old from FC Lengdorf trains every week and also plays soccer for TSV Dorfen.

He has been skiing since he was five years old and loves speed.

"He can still work on his technique," says club colleague Franziska Widl (also winner of the Challenge Cup) with a grin, but then immediately praises him: "Timo has made a giant leap." From time to time he is faster than her, she says .

And that has nothing to do with the crutches.
