Former NBA player Delonta West is working hard to get back to playing basketball.
The player, who has been battling mental illness and addictions in recent years and has been documented as homeless, plans to participate in BIG3, a 3-on-3 basketball league, which was built by hip-hop star Ice Cube.
TMZ posted a video in which West told how he feels about the long-awaited return to the field.
"It's important to be real and also about how you feel physically and what you're capable of doing," he said in the video, "I lost a little weight so I actually feel a little more athletic. I can jump a little higher now."

Donovan Fordham, West's manager, also praised the 38-year-old's efforts to return to the pitch.
"He's constantly working on mental health. He's really fighting," Fordham told TMZ, telling them they were working on a new docu-film about West's life.
"The film will tell about his struggles with mental illness, addictions and his personal life story. He wants to give a platform to those struggling with mental illness and help others with the same problems. He wants to give a voice not only to athletes, but to everyone who struggles with mental health."
