Summary: Rafael Nadal vs. Carlos Alcras, Semi-Finals Indian Wells Tournament (Sports 1)

Shock in the world of tennis: Ashley Barty, ranked No. 1 in the world, announced tonight (Tuesday through Wednesday) a sudden retirement at the height of her success.

The 25-year-old Barty, who less than two months ago became the first local since 1978 to win the Australian Championship and has won a total of three different Grand Slam titles in the last three years, explained her surprising decision in an exciting video on her personal Instagram.

"This is a day full of emotions for me, in which I announce retirement from the game I love so much. I am grateful for the game for all it has given me, and leave it proud, with a sense of accomplishment," Barty said, explaining that the retirement is largely due to mental reasons.

"It's been brewing in me for a long time. After I won Wimbledon last year, my gut feeling was that I had achieved everything I wanted to achieve in tennis. It only got worse after winning the Australian Championship."

She said, "These two wins were my way of celebrating the amazing journey I went through during my career. As a person, that's all I wanted and aspired to. But now is the time to pursue new dreams. I do not have the physical drive, the mental desire and what it takes to challenge. "I will remain in the top of the world in the future as well. May my strength wear off."

This is the second time Barty has announced his retirement, after leaving the industry for two years in 2014 and trying to develop a new career as a professional cricket player, but this time the decision seems to be final.

Barty will become the second-ranked No. 1 to announce her retirement after Justin Henin did so in 2008, also at the age of 25.

She fulfilled her last dream in the industry, and left at the peak.

Barty will now be erased from the ATP records and lose first place in the world rankings, which she held for 114 consecutive weeks, the fourth longest streak of all time.

The one who will climb in her place to the top of the world for the first time in her career is Iga from Polish Poland.

Barty is finishing his career with 15 individual titles in total, including three Grand Slam titles, alongside 12 doubles titles.

As mentioned, recently she has been at her peak professionally, with 25 wins in the last 26 games, and winning three titles out of the last four tournaments she has participated in.

She opened the year with a balance of 0:11.

"Winning Wimbledon last year changed me as a person and as an athlete," she explains.

"When you devote your whole being to so much time for one and only one purpose, something changes when the dream comes true. I dreamed of winning Wimbledon, and something in my perspective changed after it happened. Today I am finally ready to say it out loud, and feel so happy And so ready. "
