Australian tennis star: world number one Ashleigh Barty ends her career

Ashleigh "Ash" Barty leads the tennis world rankings, she is 25 years old - and now announces her retirement from professional sports in a video.

It was less than two months ago that Ashleigh Barty celebrated her win at the Australian Open: she became the first Australian to win the tournament since 1978, cementing her status as a sports heroine in the country.

The tennis career should now be over for the world number one.

25-year-old Barty announced on her official Instagram account that she was retiring.
