Boxer Lia Fukila, last night (Tuesday) won a bronze medal at the European Under-22 Championships held in Croatia.
This is her second medal in a row at the continental championship as an Israeli.
The 18-year-old Fukila, who was born to an Israeli mother and father Pini and lived in Helsinki, and began representing Israel late last year, and is considered a great potential in the industry, was stopped in the semifinals by points, by Irishman Lisa Oroki, who eventually went on to gold.
As you may recall, for Fukila this is a second medal, when last November she became the first Israeli ever to achieve a female medal at the European Youth Boxing Championships, held in Montenegro and her personal and extraordinary story we brought here in the "Shishvat" supplement.

"I came to the competition with a very good feeling," Fukila told Israel Today.
"I trained hard but lost in the semifinals by points and finished third. I am very disappointed with the result and I expected a much better performance, but I learned a lot from the fight and the competition."
"I come home and learn and improve what was missing and wrong. I will continue to try to bring the best results I can. This is the first year and second competition in the alumni category. I was the youngest in my category, and I am happy for the opportunity to come here and learn as much as possible for the future."
