The football associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland have announced that they have submitted a joint bid to host Euro 2028 today.
"In the coming months, we will work to further develop our proposals for the offer, after knowing the full terms of the European Football Association and the full technical specifications, and this includes entering into discussions with potential host cities and stadiums to prepare the best file and a full analysis of costs and benefits," the concerned federations said in a joint statement reported by Reuters.
Last month, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland revealed plans to host the tournament after they backed away from trying to organize the 2030 World Cup after a feasibility study.
And the European Football Association (UEFA) said last October that countries wishing to host the 2028 edition must confirm their bids by March 23.
The list of countries willing to organize will be announced in April, while the winning bid will be selected in September 2023.
The minimum requirements include having 10 stadiums available, including a stadium with a capacity of at least 60,000 spectators, in addition to two stadiums with a capacity of at least 50,000 spectators.
Germany will host the 2024 edition.
