Wayne Rooney and Patrick Vieira entered the Premier League Hall of Fame today (Wednesday) and are the first two of 2022 to be honored.

Rooney is considered one of the greatest strikers in the history of the industry, and he still holds the title of top scorer for Manchester United (253 in total, 208 in the league) and the England team (53). 

"It's a huge honor for me to join the Premier League Hall of Fame, alongside an amazing team of players who have already entered," said Rooney.

"I've watched the Premier League since I can remember. My dream has always been to be a professional footballer, to score goals and win trophies, and I was lucky enough to win the championship five times. I have so many good memories from the years I played for Everton and Manchester United, and I'm really proud of what we achieved "Entering the Hall of Fame is very special to me personally and I am grateful for the recognition."
