FC Penzberg: Continued hope for seventh place

Hamburger SV makes the season finale of the Futsal Bundesliga station at FC Penzberg.

The hosts have big plans for the game.

Penzberg – For the last act, the FC Penzberg futsalers did everything again.

Marco Hiry took some free tickets and distributed them to local schools.

It never hurts to have a few young fans in the stands who might get interested in this form of indoor football.

At other locations, such as Hohenstein and Düsseldorf, they have long been actively involved in futsal youth work.

In addition, a little something will be raffled off, books and an original Bayern jersey from world champion Thomas Müller.

The hope of a full hall drives the Penzberger on before this last day of the preliminary round.

Hardly any opponent likes to come to the hall at the old wave pool, where FCP has won all three of the season - the foundation of staying up in the league.

Penzberg meets Hamburger SV on Sunday (3 p.m.).

A duel with an exposed position, as all other games will already take place on Saturday and the association television will be broadcasting from the Penzberg Halle for the first time (live on the Internet on dfb.tv).

The game is interesting from two points of view.

They know whether they can get past Düsseldorf with a win.

"We have a chance of seventh place," emphasizes coach Andreas Brunner.

To do this, Düsseldorf would have to lose in second place in Stuttgart, which, to be honest, is very likely.

They are currently fourth, meaning home advantage in the second leg of the quarter-finals.

With a Bielefeld victory on Saturday, the pressure on HSV increases, which then has to win.

Andreas Brunner ignored the calculation games during the week.

"We play for ourselves, we want to end the season with a win," the coach clarifies.

Most recently in Stuttgart, FCP deviated somewhat from their ideal line, at least in terms of attack.

"It was a matter of respect," said the coach.

There should be no exaggerated reverence for Hamburg.

In the first leg (3:5) Penzberg felt deprived of the points and complained about mistakes made by the referees.

Andreas Brunner even flew off the field.

But this game was an exception. In fact, the coach praised the performance of the officials throughout the game year.

“The level was good overall.

A few unfortunate decisions happen.” The referees shouldn't play a role on Sunday, but the squad, which is growing a little, should play a role.

Penzberg comes back to two blocks - including the returnee Efe Kurtar after surviving the corona infection.

"He looked good again," says Brunner.

Martin Maier and Michael Loroff continue to duel for the place in goal.
