A holiday in the capital.

The International Jerusalem Marathon was held this morning (Friday) in difficult conditions for the 11th time, with the participation of tens of thousands of runners from Israel and the world.

At exactly 7:00, Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon kicked off the full run, which although only tonight began daylight saving time, it set off in light rain, but with a 3-degree cold and winds that made it very difficult for the runners especially on the ascents.

The one who crossed the finish line first, was Daniel Guadi in a time of 2:37:17 hours, he was 1:36 minutes ahead of Brahan Balta.

The one who completed the podium picture was Gazacho Fanta when he set 2:42:21 hours.

Of the 25,000 runners, one could find Valentina Verzka, one of Ukraine's senior marathon runners, who recently approached the organizers of the Jerusalem Winner Marathon to help her reach Israel so she could tell about the atrocities taking place in her country after Russia's invasion.

Verzka, who has a personal best of 2:38:51 hours, which she achieved in the past year, contacted the organizers through social media, when she recounted when she fled Ukraine to Poland with her daughter while her husband remained in Ukraine and served in the army in the war against Russia.

And there is nothing like an exciting moment and a good story, and Ratzka finished first, crossing the finish line waving the flags of Israel and Ukraine together.

Verzka's time, Dala managed to stop the tears, was 2:45:54 hours.

Even before the opening of the run, a demonstration of support was held by dozens of people in Ukraine, who waved Israeli and Ukrainian flags and called for an end to the war.
