National player Thomas Müller has been heavily criticized for statements about human rights violations in Qatar.

There was a shistorm on Twitter.

Munich – Thomas Müller can not only do it with his foot, but is also known as a friend of the dictum.

Especially after Bayern victories, you can always look forward to a humorous interview with a lot of winking.

But this time, his hesitant, weighing statements cause massive criticism.

Specifically, it was about the country of Qatar, the host of this year's World Cup.

As a national player, Müller was asked at a press conference about human rights violations there.

Not only since the World Cup was awarded or FC Bayern's partnership with Qatar Airways has it often been pointed out how morally correct it is to do business with this emirate despite the poor working and living conditions of many people in the emirate.

After DFB manager Oliver Bierhoff invited representatives of human rights organizations to the national team, Thomas Müller was asked for his opinion the next day.

Thomas Müller is evasive about human rights in Qatar

Unusually, however, Müller did not give a clear edge on the subject, but was evasive.

He said there are human rights violations in every country, including Germany, and went on to explain: "In countries with a different culture, like in the Middle East around Qatar, things that we now see as normal are implemented differently - whether that Women's rights are or also the issue of labor law.

We have a different legal basis there.”

Müller went on to say that the national players will “try to go through life with their eyes wide open”, but at the World Cup they will still “put sport first.

He hopes that the DFB and FIFA will "set more levers in motion to improve the implementation of human rights on the ground".

World Cup 2022 in Qatar: "... and then a waffle like Thomas Müller comes along and destroys everything again"

Many users on Twitter are outraged by Müller's views, including Philipp Köster, editor-in-chief of 11Freunde magazine.

He tweeted: "Bierhoff and Flick have just created such a nice, new, thoughtful wording on Qatar, there comes a gibberish like Thomas Müller and ruins everything again."

Many users agree with Köster.

His tweet received over 4,300 likes (as of March 25, 9:45 a.m.).

"Oh God, why do you keep asking people to make political and social statements who earn their money by rolling balls as precisely as possible?

And why does he express himself when it comes out in whisked quark?” writes a user.

"As a professional athlete, you simply can't afford to have such a table mentality," says another.

“Yes, after all, there are also human rights violations in Germany, Thomas Müller.

Can you maybe give me a heads up on when the last ones were ordered/approved by the German government?” commented another.

Users shocked by Thomas Müller's statements about Qatar - "Did he have a stroke?"

"Did he just have a stroke?

Is that this "cringe" that young people are talking about?" asks another user.

"Headers!

Bad for the brain!” writes another.

And another clicked on the video with Müller's statements, but "I didn't last ten seconds because of the shame of others."

“Unfortunately, the ramblings also prove that he had never dealt with the subject before.

And such a Hans is a multimillionaire," comments another user.
