Special Envoy to San Francisco
Adrenaline rushes, Quentin Delapierre experienced some at the helm.
This talented jack-of-all-trades remembers, for example, hectic nights piloting
“at more than 40 knots on a very big boat, feeling a great responsibility in his hands”
.
It was on Thomas Coville's
Sodebo
maxi-trimaran , in the Ultim category, the new Holy Grail of ocean racing.
But in the guts of the Breton skipper, the giants of the seas are now giving way to
"chills"
in front of the sensations experienced on his new support, the F50.
For Delapierre, handling one of the eight flying catamarans on the SailGP circuit was a revelation.
“When I started sailing, I never thought I could sail at those speeds.
It's a concentrate of technology from everything we've learned in sailing over the past fifty years.
This boat has it all.
It's the ultimate boat,”
he smiles, glancing at his blue-white-red-robed mount.
