This morning (Sunday), the winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which will be awarded as part of the 65th anniversary celebrations to the Wingate Institute, were announced.

The purpose of the award is to honor the work and contribution of the people who have influenced the sport for years.

The award committee is headed by Eric Pinto, chairman of the National Sports Council and former CEO of Bank Hapoalim.

Its other members are Yaki Enoch, Wingate Institute Chairman, Nurit Dabush, Former Second Authority Chairman, and Paralympic Medalist Inbal Pizarro.

Athlete:

Former Israeli and Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball player Miki Berkovich, due to being a pioneer and inspirer in sports and Israeli society. Mickey is a basketball player with many achievements, including two European Cups, 16 championships and 13 state cups. Inspired by the leading sports and social bodies in Israel and Europe.   

Coach:

Maurice Samadja, a judo coach and one of the founders of the competitive judo industry in Israel, due to being a groundbreaking coach who has raised many generations of Olympic medalists, world champions and more.

Morris is one of the founders of the judo infrastructure that has developed and turned the State of Israel into a world judo power.

In addition to being an accomplished coach, he acted as an educator and put others first when he helped with great concern and without compensation for dozens of at-risk youth in the southern region.

Coach:

Orna Ostfeld, former coach of AS Ramat Hasharon, due to being a basketball player and a groundbreaking coach in the women's basketball industry. A role model for generations of athletes. Throughout her years as a coach she has won six championships and six trophies. The women in general and the athletes in particular, her struggles have changed the face of women's basketball in Israel, as well as the lives of quite a few basketball players who played under a baton.

Jacob Beninson, coach of the Israeli Paralympic swimming team, for being a groundbreaking coach who has raised many generations of Paralympic medalists, world champions and more.

Since immigrating to Israel about twenty years ago, he has dedicated his professional and personal life to swimming and the Paralympic swimmers.
