The organizers of the World Swimming League (ISL) announced today (Monday) the cancellation of the series of competitions for 2022.
The statement said: "The war in Ukraine is a life-threatening tragedy that is destroying families and homes.
Many of our ISL members are trapped in Kiev.
As a result, it was difficult to hold competitions this year.
We will come back stronger, thank you for your understanding. '
However, the real reason for the cancellation is due to the fact that the world championship that was first canceled and then rescheduled for June in Budapest, falls in parallel with the swimming league and to avoid a struggle between the swimmers and a difficult decision where to compete, the swimming league advanced medicine to Mecca.
It should be remembered that even so there is a big load on the swimmers this season, ahead of them also the European Summer Championships and the World Short Course Championships in December, which was supposed to take place in Kazan and because of the war will be held elsewhere.
