Portnova is the son of former Bologna, Genoa and Napoli player Daniela Portnova.
He is one of three young men against whom a complaint was filed last year by a young woman his age who complained about a rape that allegedly took place at a party in the city of Siena, where he was also arrested shortly afterwards.
An indictment was also filed against the two other young men involved in the alleged young rape, one of whom is a relative of Portnova, while another young man involved in the tragic incident was 17 at the time and therefore the jurisdiction in his case is that of the Florence Juvenile Court.
During their interrogation, they claimed that the sex was carried out with consent, but an interrogation that lasted about 10 months and during which non-stop interrogations were carried out, examined the telephones of the young men and the girl who was attacked, led to an indictment.
Portnova grew up in Lazio's youth department, from which he moved to Juventus and in January 2021 was sold to Genoa for around € 10 million, a deal that even aroused suspicion in Italy and was investigated due to the high amount paid for the midfielder, who was arrested a few months later.
