Good, but not good enough: Simon Jocher missed the German Championship title again.

In the Super G on the Kandahar he had to admit defeat to Andreas Sander.

German championship title on the Kandahar and Simon Jocher: That doesn't really go together.

After silver downhill, the SC Garmisch alpine skier has to be satisfied with second place in the Super G as well.

After all, Jocher wins the subsequent FIS race, which, however, is overshadowed by the fall of Josef "Pepi" Ferstl.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen –

Simon Jocher just has to get through it now: At the German Championships on the Kandahar last week, Romed Baumann placed ahead of the local hero from SC Garmisch in the downhill and then admitted that it was almost nicer to have snatched the title away from Jocher than to be able to call himself German champion.

Jocher's answer to that was a declaration of war for the Super G. It was lined up yesterday, again on the Kandahar, and Baumann lined up behind him.

Nevertheless, the SCG athlete was teased again afterwards.

Because again, Jocher, who lives in Grainau, did not win, but one of his DSV teammates.

This time Andreas Sander played the spoilsport, relegating Jocher to second place by just 0.20 seconds.

"After that, of course, the teasing continued," admits the 25-year-old with a smile.

Jocher has to put up with teasing

But that's not all.

Later, race director Markus Anwander couldn't resist a little dig at Jocher: "Next year we'd better let the second race count as the German Championship." Because, like the week before, Jocher won the subsequent FIS downhill race - ahead of Baumann and Sander .

There just wasn't a title for that.

But his frustration had no limits.

"The descent was worse, this time it wasn't really a surprise that I came second," emphasized Jocher with a grin.

Because basically he can be satisfied.

He describes his runs as solid and the results "can be seen".

But there was a but: "I would have loved to have grabbed the title."

Emma Aicher dominates among women

What Jocher was denied twice, Emma Aicher did twice.

The 18-year-old from SC Mahlstetten had already secured the downhill title in the absence of Germany's number one, Kira Weidle (SC Starnberg), and repeated her triumph in the Super G.

Kira would certainly have shown that it could be done even faster, but that makes her strong.” Especially since the national competition couldn't hold a candle to her yesterday, Tuesday.

Katrin Hirtl-Stanggassinger (WSV Königsee) was fourth, 1.30 seconds behind as runner-up.

Local hero Nadine Kapfer was 1.61 seconds slower than Aicher and had to settle for the thankless fourth place in the German Championships.

"Nadine finds it easier on the descent, but that's still not enough of her," said Anwander.

The appearance of Simon Luca Wolf (SC Garmisch) was less successful.

The 20-year-old dropped out of the German Championships and did not get past 13th place in the FIS race.

Ferstl probably breaks his upper arm

It wasn't due to the slope conditions, which Anwander described as "great".

And yet the men's FIS race had to be canceled because the snow became too soft and the safety of the drivers could no longer be guaranteed.

If the race had gone normally, all the athletes could have started, but the competition was overshadowed by a fall.

Ironically, Josef "Pepi" Ferstl was the unlucky one.

After a driving error, Ferstl slipped into the safety fences and, according to Anwander's information, probably broke his upper arm.

The 33-year-old, who fell badly at the World Cup on the Kandahar last year, was then transported by helicopter and flown to the hospital.

“Then the snow in the upper part was simply too soft.

So we had to stop,” said Anwander.
