FIBA has made two interesting decisions today (Tuesday): first, Cyprus will join the two designated hosts of the 2025 European Championship. Second: FIBA reserves the right to add Ukraine as another host of the tournament.
Currently the three hosts are Latvia (early house and final stages), Finland and as mentioned Cyprus (early houses), with the decision on another early house delayed for now, because naturally the situation in Ukraine does not allow it to be declared host.
If the situation does not change soon, the fourth host will probably be Hungary.
Surprisingly, Russia also submitted a request to host one of the early houses and also some of the final stages, but of course was rejected.
This summer, the home stages of the European Championships will be held in Georgia (Tbilisi), the Czech Republic (Prague), Italy (Milan) and Germany (Cologne), with the final stages hosted by Berlin.
