Women's Champions League: more than 25,000 spectators for PSG-Bayern

2022-03-29T17:35:12.948Z

For the quarter-final return this Wednesday, the Parc des Princes will beat its attendance record for a match for the women's team.

The previous record dated from April 29, 2017. For Barcelona's arrival in the Champions League semi-final at the Parc des Princes, the Parisiennes had played in front of 19,192 spectators.

This Wednesday (9 p.m.) for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich, after winning 2-1 in the first leg, Didier Ollé-Nicolle's players are going to have a great time: more 25,000 seats have indeed been officially sold, the club announced on Tuesday evening in a press release.

The ninth meeting of PSG at the Park will therefore be that of the record.

In November, during the group stage against Real Madrid, 18,345 supporters were already present.

The women's first match at the Parc took place in October 2009 with a D1 match against Juvisy with 5,892 spectators.

Many Ultras are expected.

“They give an even slightly warmer, slightly more emotional connotation,” underlines Didier Ollé-Nicolle.

More broadly, the coach is delighted in advance of this enthusiasm: “I was talking about it yesterday (Monday) to the girls: these are exceptional times for them.

Very humbly I told them that I had the chance to make semi-finals and Cup finals.

But I'm happy as a kid to prepare and play this match.

We will do everything we can to have an exceptional moment”.

In the club's press release, Nicolas Arndt, director of ticketing and hospitality, indicates: "Thanks to the rise in power of the team and a winning ticketing strategy, we are building the loyalty of an ever larger audience around women".

Places are still on sale – at 6, 12 and 25 euros – on the PSG site.

In the long term, could PSG consider playing permanently at the Park?

“You know the players are just waiting for that, underlines Didier Ollé-Nicolle.

They like to play on grass pitches and in a big stadium.

We know that there is proximity to Paris.

It's easier to get people to come, our Ultras prefer to come to the Park.

Our goal on the sporting level is to make the club progress.

In terms of image, recognition.

We only dream of that: to register PSG in the very high level of women's football and that it will create real enthusiasm, real recognition and real development.
